Obstacles to finding love

If you are married and like most people, you married someone different from yourself. Perhaps you have heard the old expression, "Opposites attract. Unfortunately, opposites also attack! Why is that? In ancient Greek mythology, it was thought that the gods feared humans were too strong so they tore us in half at birth. Then, whether born male or female, we spent the rest of our life looking for our "other half" in order to be complete. Apparently, even hundreds of years ago people were marrying their opposite.

It's better to spend years finding the right person than to spend your whole life with the wrong person. Love isn't finding a perfect person. It's seeing an imperfect person perfectly. We waste time looking for the perfect lover, instead of creating the perfect love. I am in search of some one to adore, and I must find one soon, for life without love is like a bottle without wine.

Love is a bit of a gamble. But you can improve your odds if you can find and understand their imperfections, and they, yours. Know, understand, appreciate. What does that mean? This quote is widely circulated, and in minor variations. After all, we are all humans, and therefore, all quite a bit shy of perfect. At least everyone I know is that way.
